Veteran big man Alex Pledger has re-signed with Melbourne United for the #NBL20 season.
Pledger will return to Melbourne for another season after playing in all bar one game of United’s 2018/19 campaign.
Pledger, who is the tallest man in the NBL standing at 215cm, is a four-time NBL Champion with the New Zealand Breakers and a valuable member of New Zealand’s national team, the Tall Blacks.
Averaging 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds last season, Pledger proved to be a force coming off the bench with tough defence and ability to bring down key rebounds.
With 270 games of NBL experience, Pledger has career averages of 7.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1 block per game and has proven himself to be a vital piece to every team he has played on. In his nine seasons with the New Zealand Breakers prior to signing with Melbourne last year, he won four NBL Championships – highlighting his incredible winning record in the league.
Pledger is currently captaining the Southland Sharks in the New Zealand National Basketball League, a team that boasts fellow United player Mitch McCarron, along with familiar names such as Thomas Abercrombie, Todd Blanchfield and Jarrad Weeks.
